This is the pre-requite class for all theater students. In this class we lay a overview groundwork that encompasses all areas of theater arts. After TA1 students may chose to continue on to Theater Arts TWO, move to the Stagecraft classes, or do both.

Topics we introduce in TA1

• Actor Movement

• Actor Voice

• Scene and play study

• Stagecraft/ technical theater

• Play Writing

• Theater History

Projects may include:

• Silent Movies

• Radio Commercials

• Scene or One Act performance

• writing of a 5-10 minute script

In TA 2 we explore different theories and styles of acting through monologues and scene study.

Theories and styles may include:

• Improvisation

• Shakespeare

• commedia dell'arte

• Brecht

• Guerrilla

• Stanislavski

• Chekov

• Hagen

• Laban

• Linklater

• Meisner

TA 3 and 4 currently meet together during the same class time. This class is a product focused and student guided class.

Projects May include:

• Competition in the Kentucky Theater Association's High School Festival

• Actors Theater of Louisville's New Voices Festival

• Evening of original One Acts

• Finding your personal artistic voice

• Directing

• Auditioning

• Devising original theater pieces
