About Foster
Foster Traditional Academy is located in the Chickasaw area of Louisville, Kentucky at 1401 South 41st Street. Foster was moved to a new location and opened a beautiful new campus in 2001. Historically, Foster’s student population ranges from 330 to 500 students. Current enrollment is 331 students from kindergarten through fifth grade. Foster has a positive and inviting environment that offers many district programs to support student success. Foster is a districtwide Traditional school, which means that all students have to apply to attend Foster. The Traditional Program and the Advance Program are offered at Foster. Through the collaborative efforts of Foster’s staff, parents, and Family Resource Center (FRC), and through community involvement, students receive a well-rounded education that meets their diverse needs within an environment of high expectations. Foster strives to meet the academic, emotional, and social needs of all students in order to equip them with the skills necessary to lead successful and productive lives as well as prepare them for the college and/or career of their choice.
