Activities and Athletics
Welcome to the JCPS Activities and Athletics Department. Access all things athletic here, including specific information about middle and high school athletic programs. You will find helpful forms, schedules, and contact information. Feel free to email our department with questions that you have. Encourage your child to get involved in something extracurricular. Whether your child’s interests lie on the courts and athletic fields, in answering Quick Recall questions, or in debating key issues, we have something for them. Talk with the athletic director at your child's school about all of the possibilities.
Philosophy
The Activities/Athletics Program in JCPS seeks to provide organizations, clubs, and athletic teams to all students who wish to participate under the guidelines set forth by the KHSAA and JCBE. It is our philosophy that all athletes shall enjoy as many sports/activities as they wish without being influenced to specialize in one sport.
The JCPS Office of Activities and Athletics believes that all personnel affiliated with school activities should strive to teach the basic principles of leadership, competitiveness, fair play, self-discipline, and responsibility for adult living.
Vision Statement
At JCPS, we aim to provide diverse, inclusive, and equitable opportunities for all students to enjoy the privilege of participating in school athletics and activities. The Athletic Office will support schools to ensure athletics and activities are part of the educational experience and hone essential skills that prepare students for life beyond extra-curricular activities. We will support schools to provide a student experience that will foster positivity and strengthen core values (School Culture, Sportsmanship, Achievement, Community and School Engagement, and Resilience).
JCPS currently has 10,000 middle and high school students playing a sport, and many thousands more have participated in a school activity. We currently offer 14 boys’ and 14 girls’ sports throughout the year. Our teams and clubs have experienced great success, but our ultimate goal is to help your child grow as a person and be ready for whatever their next step is. Whether students are leaving elementary school for a new middle school adventure or graduating from one of our high schools, coaches and sponsors want to assist them and prepare them for the future. We promote Character First! at all times, and this motto drives all decisions that we make. Come be a part of what we do. We would love to have you!

It also works with the 15th District Parent Teacher Association (PTA) on the county spelling bee and acts as a liaison with the Kentucky Association of Academic Competition, which organizes the statewide Governor's Cup competition each year.
