Has more than 20 years of experience at elementary level
Dec. 22, 2023—Jennifer Forseth will be the next principal at Kerrick Elementary School after serving as the interim principal for the last six weeks.
Forseth has more than 20 years of elementary classroom experience and successfully completed the Jefferson County Leadership Academy Principal Internship Program at Byck and Maupin elementary schools.
“It is an honor to be selected as the principal of Kerrick Elementary School,” Forseth said. “Kerrick is a beautifully diverse school community with talented students and staff.”
Forseth joined Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) in 1995 as a long-term substitute with Home/Hospital and State Agency Schools. From 1997 to 2001, she worked as an elementary classroom teacher before shifting to serve as an adult basic education instructor (2001-2002) and resource teacher (2002-2008).
Forseth then worked in Oldham County Public Schools from 2008 to 2017 before coming back to JCPS as an elementary classroom teacher/team lead at Wheatley Elementary from 2017 to 2018. From 2018 to 2022, she served as an academic instructional coach at Byck Elementary before joining the Principal Internship Program in 2022.
Dr. Nathan Meyer, assistant superintendent of Accelerated Improvement Schools (AIS), said he is excited to see Forseth transition from interim to permanent principal at Kerrick.
“Ms. Forseth has been leading as the interim principal the last six weeks and has demonstrated herself as a strategic and compassionate leader,” Meyer said. “She immediately came into the school and worked to form relationships and build upon the positive work at the building while always seeking improvement of teaching and learning.”
Forseth earned her Ed.S. in educational leadership from Northern Kentucky University. She has a master’s degree in elementary education and bachelor’s degree in Spanish, both from the University of Louisville. She also holds a Rank 1 in instructional design from Spalding University.
As a systems-thinker, Forseth has experience working on school turnaround teams to design, implement, and monitor positive changes at Byck and Maupin elementary schools. She also prides herself on forging authentic partnerships with families to help everyone feel like valued partners, she said.
“I look forward to partnering with our families to champion the continued success of each and every Kerrick student,” Forseth said.
