June 22, 2023 - Dr. Tyler Shearon has been promoted to a new leadership position within Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS).
Shearon is the new Executive Administrator (EA) of Operations Services for the district. In his new role, Shearon will work directly with the chief operations officer to provide strategic guidance to operational department leadership, with a commitment to improving customer service and operational responsiveness for our schools.
“This is an exciting opportunity for me to contribute in a different yet meaningful way,” said Shearon. “I look forward to collaborating with schools and our Operations team with the ultimate goal of maximizing students’ opportunity to learn.”
The JCPS Operations Services Division oversees the planning, development, assessment, and improvement of operational services and administrative programs.
“Tyler brings a wealth of leadership experience from JCPS and beyond,” said Chris Perkins, JCPS chief operations officer. “He is a strong, systems-minded leader with a proven track record of improving the culture, supports, and professional capacity of his team that have positively impacted student outcomes.”
Shearon has served as principal of Southern High School since 2017. While at Southern, he increased student achievement, restructured managerial systems for smoother operation and increased school safety, and redesigned the master schedule for greater flexibility and academic focus.
Shearon started with JCPS in 2007 as a science teacher. He made the move to administration in 2012 as an assistant principal at Academy@Shawnee. He then worked for the Kentucky Department of Education for two years before returning to JCPS in 2017.
Shearon holds a Doctorate of Education from Vanderbilt University, an educational specialist degree from Bellarmine University, a master’s degree from the University of Louisville, and a bachelor’s degree from Emory University.
