101 seniors complete teaching and learning career pathway

May 11, 2023—Dozens of Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) seniors are planning to return to JCPS classrooms in a few years, as certified teachers. Today, 101 seniors who completed JCPS' Academies of Louisville teaching and learning pathway were celebrated by administrators who dropped by their high schools with noise makers, balloons, and certificates in tow. All of the seniors signed conditional offers of employment, meaning they are guaranteed a job in JCPS once they graduate from college with a degree in education. The hope is that the program can help JCPS alleviate the teacher shortage in a few years by "growing our own" teachers starting in middle and high school.
