April 28, 2023 - A veteran teacher and school administrator will be applying her experience and skills to a new job building and linking middle school programs to young students’ experiences. Marcella Minogue has been named the new Executive Administrator of Middle School Explore. Minogue is currently the principal of Norton Elementary School.
“I am excited to join the JCPS middle school team to continue the growth and expansion of Explore,” Minogue said. “I am passionate about creating learning experiences for all students that strengthen engagement and sense of belonging. I look forward to connecting elementary schools to Explore to create Kindergarten through 12th grade learning paths that empower students to identify their passion and build a plan for a successful future!”
Minogue’s primary responsibility will be working with Assistant Superintendent of Middle Schools Dr. Rob Fulk to grow the Explore pathway in middle schools and begin aligning it with programming in elementary schools.
“The next step of the Explore work at middle schools is to build a bridge into our elementary programs,” Fulk said. “We have an existing, strong partnership with our high schools, and as we embark on the next phase of Explore, it is critical that we place middle school leadership in a position to connect the work with our elementary students. Ms. Minogue, with over a decade of leadership in the elementary world, is the right leader to do this work.”
Middle School Explore gives students a chance to examine and experience a number of career paths that might interest them. Explore is designed to give middle schoolers some idea of an Academies of Louisville high school program they might want to pursue.
“Explore is a significant investment in the student experience for middle school students of JCPS,” Fulk said. “We believe Ms. Minogue’s significant experience in the critical transition of elementary to middle school will help build engaging programming and outstanding leaders in our middle schools. Her demonstrated ability to teach, coach principals as a principal mentor and School Based Administrative Teams leader will benefit middle school staff, students and culture.”
Minogue has been a professional educator for more than three decades including stints as a teacher and principal in Jefferson and Bullitt County public school districts.
“I am honored to take on this new role to support student learning,” Minogue said. The future for students in JCPS is bright and I look forward to being part of the leadership team to ensure equitable, high quality learning experiences for all students.”
Minogue’s will finish the school year at Norton before beginning her new job.
