Tricia Lister head shot

The Jefferson County Board of Education (JCBE) voted unanimously September 24th to appoint Tricia Lister to fill the Board’s vacant District 2 seat.

Lister was sworn in during a JCBE work session and replaces Chris Kolb, who resigned from the Board in late July. She will serve out the remainder of Kolb’s term through January 6, 2025.

“I love JCPS,” Lister said. “It’s an important part of our community. I want everyone buying in and being a cheerleader for JCPS and I’m hoping to be one of those cheerleaders.”

Lister has worked as a criminal defense and appeals attorney in Jefferson County since 2005 and is a graduate of J. Graham Brown School, Earlham College, and the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. She has three children, all of whom graduated from JCPS schools.

The board interviewed candidates for the open board seat before selecting Lister, who said in her application that she wants to “be part of the solution” in making sure Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) students’ needs are met.

An election for the District 2 seat will be held in November 2024.
