🎉 CONGRATULATIONS | The Valley High School Band is on a roll! This small but mighty 21-member band has garnered a series of firsts—participation in the Kentucky marching band championship, regional championship and the Bands Of America (BOA) Grand Nationals in Indianapolis—all for the first time.
Ft. Knox Commander Col. Sherman Watson and other U.S. Army leaders recently presented the band with a $5,000 prize package that students won at the Grand Nationals in a contest sponsored by the Army and the University of Louisville!
🚨 IT'S AN EMERGENCY | Students in Echo Trail Middle School's Explore pathway got a tour of Louisville’s emergency response vehicles and Louisville Metro Emergency Services. Students learned about possible career paths and how our city’s emergency response teams work. Thank you to Louisville Metro Emergency Services for this engaging field trip! #WeAreJCPS

🦃 TURKEY TROT | It's the season of giving, and Medora Elementary School showed up BIG TIME for its community! Students and staff collected an incredible 46,684 non-perishable items for Southwest Community Ministries as part of its annual Turkey Trot, which included a fun run yesterday! Way to go!
🚨 TIME IS RUNNING OUT | The JCPS Gives employee and community giving campaign runs through this Friday, Nov. 29! 🎉 CONGRATULATIONS | At the National Career Academy Coalition (NCAC) conference, all three Waggener High School Academies were awarded model status, and the school received the Exemplary High School Leadership Team Award!
🚘 AUTO AFICIONADOS | Students in automotive programs across the state competed today in the Toyota Express Maintenance competition at Southern High School! Teams were judged on how fast and accurately they could rotate tires, change oil, and do other maintenance checks.
A big thank you to Oxmoor Toyota for providing the cars for today's competition, Snap-on Tools for providing competition prizes, and other partners including ASE Certifications, Jefferson Community & Technical College, ConsuLab, and the Kentucky Department of Education for helping make the event a success!
