Welcome to our Student Resource Hub! Here, you'll find everything you need to help set your student up for success—from key resources and artifact rubrics, to FAQs and information.
Artifacts
Throughout the K-12 journey, students collect artifacts in the JCPS Digital Backpack to demonstrate their learning. All artifacts should meet high-quality work indicators as evidenced by the artifact rubrics for each Success Skill. It is recommended that curriculum-based artifacts be included, but students will also have the opportunity to use artifacts from their own life experience outside of the classroom.
Artifact Rubrics , Reflections, and Student Slides
Rubrics and reflection prompts are utilized Districtwide to guide the process of uploading artifacts as evidence of learning and competency for a Success Skill. These tools ensure that submitted artifacts meet the necessary Success Skill criteria and clarify look-fors. The reflection prompts are an important metacognitive opportunity for learners to reflect on how their artifacts demonstrate Success Skill development throughout their learning journey.

Milestone Checkpoints
All students will demonstrate their learning and growth in Success Skill competencies by completing a milestone experience each year in grades K-4, 6-7 and 9-11 (the grades between key transition years of fifth, eighth and twelfth grades).
There are three types of milestone experiences: a Mini-Defense, Student-Led Conference, or Exhibition of Learning.

Defenses of Learning
Defenses of Learning are presentations where learners display their readiness to move to the next level by exhibiting artifacts and reflections that signify their growth in Success Skill competencies over a period of time.
